SEO for professional services firms
Our SEO services
Technical SEO
Making sure search engines can crawl, index and load every page quickly. We find what is broken and fix the costliest problems first.
Local SEO
Your Google Business Profile, reviews and location pages, so you are found in the towns where you have offices.
Content
Service pages and guides that answer the questions clients ask before they choose a firm. Written by someone who knows the subject and checked by your team before they go live.
Digital PR
Coverage in the press and trade media your clients read. It builds trust with clients and shows Google your firm is worth recommending.
AI search
Being named when people ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI Overviews for a recommendation. We track where your firm appears.
Search works best alongside Google Ads, which bring enquiries sooner, and conversion work, which turns more of your visitors into calls.
SEO for law firms, accountants and financial advisers
Firms that win work on trust are chosen differently from shops and software companies. Clients take their time, compare a few names and look for proof that a firm understands their kind of problem, so the pages that matter most are the ones that show expertise in a specific area of work.
Marketing for these firms also has rules. Solicitors must make sure their publicity is accurate and not misleading, and must publish prices on their website for services such as residential conveyancing and uncontested probate. Financial promotions are regulated by the FCA. We write with those rules in mind and keep every claim to what your firm can support.
Law firms
Most of our work and our results. We cover personal injury, medical negligence, family, private client, property, employment, immigration and commercial law.
Law firm SEOAccountants
For practices that want more of the clients they would choose to work with, from owner-managed businesses to larger companies, rather than more enquiries for work they turn away.
Financial advisers
For advisers and wealth managers who need to be found by people who are ready to talk, with every page written with the FCA’s rules on financial promotions in mind.
How we measure it, from enquiry to instruction
Traffic is easy to grow and easy to report, but it does not tell you whether the phone rang. We count the calls, emails and form enquiries your website produces and where each one came from, using call tracking and your own enquiry data.
Where you can share it, we go a step further and match those enquiries to the instructions and fees that followed. That is how Osbornes Law can put a figure on what its website earns. Each month you get a report on enquiries, what they cost and what they were worth, with positions and traffic shown only where they help explain the numbers.
A result: Osbornes Law
Osbornes Law is a London firm working across personal injury, medical negligence, family, property and private client law. We changed how its site is found and how it turns visits into enquiries, and it now gets more than 2,000 calls and emails a month from its website.
“We’ve seen a big increase in the amount of enquiries coming from our website since we started working with Next Customer Please. We rely on the work that we generate from these enquiries.”
- £3.75m
- a year from website leads
- 2,000+
- calls and emails a month
Figures from Osbornes Law’s call tracking and enquiry data, and the firm’s own fee figures.
Who you work with

Next Customer Please is founder-led. You deal with one experienced person who plans the work, makes the judgement calls and answers for the results, with no layer of account managers in between. We are based in Bristol and work with firms across the UK.
Matt Varley founded Next Customer Please in 2020. He has worked in professional services marketing since 2006, at Grant Thornton and with law firms including Osborne Clarke, Foot Anstey and TLT, and has focused on SEO for law firms since 2022. More about Matt
AI makes us efficient. Our experience makes us effective. AI systems handle the jobs that used to take days, such as trawling through search data and checking every page of your website, which leaves time for the thinking a partner would expect from an adviser. Your client data stays private.

How long it takes
SEO usually takes months, not weeks. Search engines need time to visit changed pages, and trust builds slowly. Fixes to the site and to pages that already nearly work can show sooner. Anyone who promises a date is guessing, so we tell you what we expect for your firm in the free review and show you the enquiries as they arrive.
What to watch for when hiring an SEO consultant or agency
- A promise of a position on Google. Google’s own advice to businesses hiring an SEO is that nobody can guarantee one.
- Reports that show traffic and positions but never enquiries.
- Long contracts before you have seen how the work is measured.
- Links bought in bulk, or content produced in bulk with nobody checking it.
- An agency that never asks how your clients choose a firm, which is the first thing it needs to know.
Ask any consultant what they will count. If the answer is not enquiries, keep looking. Google’s guide Do you need an SEO? has more questions worth asking.
Questions firms ask before booking
How much does SEO cost in the UK?
Prices vary from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds a month, depending on how competitive your market is and how much is done for you. Our SEO starts at £2,000 a month if we guide your team, £3,000 a month if we do it all for you, and £5,000 a month for multi-office firms, plus VAT. We agree a fixed price before work starts.
How long does SEO take?
Usually several months, because search engines need time to re-assess a site and trust builds slowly. Fixes to pages that already nearly work can show sooner, and paid ads can bring enquiries in the meantime. We tell you what to expect for your firm in the free review.
What does an SEO consultant do?
An SEO consultant finds out why people searching for your services are not finding you, decides what to fix first, and makes sure it gets done and measured. The work covers the technical side of the site, the content, and the press coverage that builds trust.
Consultant or agency: which do I need?
A consultant gives you direct access to one experienced person, while an agency gives you a team and, often, a layer of account management. We are founder-led, so you deal with one person, and AI systems handle the routine work an agency would give to junior staff.
Are SEO agencies worth it?
They are when they measure what matters. Ask any agency what it will count. If the answer is positions and traffic rather than enquiries, be careful.
Do you guarantee a place on page one of Google?
No, and nobody honestly can. Google says so in its own advice on hiring an SEO. We commit to the work and the reporting, and we show you the enquiries that came from it.
Do you only work with law firms?
No. Law is where most of our work and results come from, and we also work with accountants, financial advisers and other firms that win work on trust.
Can you work alongside our current agency?
Often, yes. We can take one part, such as digital PR or Google Ads, and work with whoever does the rest. We tell you if the overlap would waste your money.
